With a donated DAP kart chassis, a 1 HP electric motor, controller and 2 wheelchair batteries, I drove in a small circle around my driveway with my dogs chasing me. I sat there and laughed for for a couple minutes and then wondered how I could make it go faster. After the first race at Marsh Creek Raceway in May 1996, I realized the need to build a new kart with more power and unique features. This resulted in the blue #66 kart which debuted at Pocono Raceway in August of 1997 as part of the annual Electric Vehicle Expo. Along with a variety of other electric powered cars, the E-Kart posted a time of 2:45.0 for a lap of the 2.5 mile tri-oval (55 mph).

The two E-Karts, #66 and #99 on pit lane at POCONO Raceway.
Several electric karts from Arnolds's Karting Center and Arnold's Citi-Car are behind.

E-Kart Racing of PA has gone on to race head-to-head with 4-cycle gas karts at
WKA sanctioned tracks such as Flemington, Marsh Creek, Oakland Valley, Orville,

Chestertown and Harrisburg State Farm Show Motorama and to my knowledge has the ONLY electric karts to have competed directly against gas-karts.
